Cool! (actually, hot)

30 Sep

So where I live, Fukuoka, is famous for a style of ramen called “tonkotsu ramen” – basically ramen cooked in pork fat broth with huge slabs of pork on top. A vegetarian’s delight!

It is delicious though. (I’ve had it without the slabs) Anywho, a fellow teacher here saw a program on NHK last night about Japanese food in foreign countries. They highlighted this Michelin-rated restaurant in the East Village: It’s a huge chain that got its start here in Fukuoka and serves proper tonkotsu ramen. Please check it out!

Thanks for the tip! I think Sapporo has something similar with the pork slabs — so that’s from Fukuoka? Small world….
