Nagasaki weekend

7 Feb

I went to Nagasaki over the weekend. It was the start of the famous Lantern Festival, which celebrates the Chinese New Year and takes place in Chinatown. It was a gorgeous and fun festival, and I took a lot of pretty pictures. Have a look!

Somehow it’s never crossed my mind that Japanese cities have Chinatowns, but I guess I’ve never been to a city without a Chinatown. Broadening perspectives every day…
    Beautiful photos. Happy Rabbit-Year.

Lol, right? Actually I think there are only 3 Chinatowns in Japan. There may be more in the States, oddly enough….

Thanks, Lauren! Happy New Year to you! 🙂

    Looks cool!

They should sell mini-animal lanterns that you can take home.

Didn’t you go to Nagasaki once before already?

I know this is a late reply, but you’re thinking of Hiroshima, probably.

Ooooooooh you’re so lucky to be in Japan! I love those sculptures — are they papier mache or something?
