The old lady bar, continued

4 Feb

Some of my photos wouldn’t load last night, so here are the rest:

And if you squint you can see the eponymous owner of the Old Lady Bar, helping one of our group take over as bartender for the night:

Oh, and by the way? For 4 or so hours of all-you-can-drink plus snacks and karaoke , our friend the Old Lady wanted to charge us 1000-en each: that’s about $10. We insisted on giving her more, but it didn’t seem to make her happy.

$10!?? Now that’s my kind of bar… And who uses the word “eponymous” in everyday conversation anyway!!? :-p

Crazy. The lady there is too sweet.

Internet conversation is different from regular conversation! You can whip out words like that without sounding pretentious. 🙂

    What does it mean?

Eponymous? It’s like, the person who something is named after. So if you’re talking about Anne of Green Gables, you can say “the eponymous Anne is a young orphan who…” etc. In this case, the old lady is the owner of the bar, and thus we call it the Old Lady Bar, and thus she is eponymous.

….Yeah, I also use “thus” in everyday online conversation. Hee.
